Our First “Orange” Christmas
Hello all,

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas or Happy Hanukkah!!

Our family survived our first "Orange" Christmas and we did it quite well!! Jessica hand made a Christmas tree for us, constructed out of toilet paper and painted orange balls and candy canes, it will be cherished for a lifetime. She sent home and entire box of the food and snacks that she is able to buy and sent it all home with "prison recipe cards" so we will know how to make the goodies, should be interesting!!

Thank you to everyone that sent Jessica holiday cards!!! Many of you sent multiples and she was still receiving holiday cards as of yesterday, over 75 cards in all and she loved every single one of them!!! She said, they made her smile, laugh, think, and a lot of times cry, but it was okay, she knows how loved she is. She said to me last week at visitation, she knows the true meaning of Christmas and it does not involve presents. She said the daily love and support she receives from ALL of us is a daily gift.

She has still not complained about a thing but appreciates everyday that she can wake up and go to work, have a cup of coffee, and enjoy the beautiful weather. We are grateful we live in Arizona and not dealing with all of the cold and snow, we know the upcoming summer will be a different story but she'll get through it.

We look forward to our weekly visits, the 4 hours go by way to fast! It won't be long and she will be able to visit for 3, 4 hour blocks on the weekends, so more people can visit and we can spread it out. That should happen in February. She will get her first "food from home" visit on Mother's day and she is counting the days until that happens.

Jessica was had a sore throat and a bit of flu this past Sunday and Monday but is feeling much better now, she stocked up on vitamin C and she purchased multi-vitamins to start taking. She does have cough medicine and throat drops, your basis over the counter cold medicines. So far in the 6 months she has been in, this was the first time she was ill.

The website should be live soon, Aaren is hard at work entering all the content and getting the photo gallery in place! The site is going to be really nice, it will always be a work in progress as information will change often. I will keep you all posted on when that happens. Until then, I will send out updates and keep you all informed.

The book donations are still coming in, thanks again to Thom and Melanie at the Dog-Eared Pages bookstore for their support!! Please remember to visit or call them if you need any books! They can also mail books to Jessica, so if there is a book you want to send to Jessica, you can buy directly from them and they can get them to her. We are up to over 3000 books donated!! AMAZING!

Thanks for all your love and support! Please keep writing to Jessica! Her birthday is the 31st of January, I'm hoping to set a mail record for her!!!!! :)

Our family wishes all of you a Happy Healthy New Year!
