Mom bring me a chocolate bunny?!
Food visits are so incredibly special.   When you are incarcerated and you eat the same terrible food day afer day, week after week, month after month, food visits mean a taste of love from home.  A familiar smell, a familiar texture or even a ritual.   This food visit came with a special request from Jessica.   During the Easter holiday Jessica asked me to buy her a chocolate Easter bunny. I told her I could do that but what did she want me to do with it?   She responded with, "save it and bring it to food visit Mom, I miss the little things like biting the ears off of a chocolate Easter bunny"!

So, once again this is a reminder to all of us.   Treasure the everyday things, the simple things, the things we do and take for granted.  The next time Easter comes around, buy that chocolate bunny and bite the ears off, do it for yourself and do it for someone behind bars who wish they could.    Smile and think of them!
